Airport Parking Safety Measures

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Safety means a great many things.  You can have a safe monetary investment, such as a bond, which might be safer than owning stock.  Your dog can be kept safe from traffic by using a leash.  You can remain healthy and safe by going for regular check-ups to your physician’s office.  Your home can be kept safe with alarm systems and insurance policies.  And then there’s the other kind of safety, the immediate sort that requires care and vigilance.

Would you want to walk through a city at two in the morning by yourself?  Would you consider that safe behavior?  Hopefully not.  While paranoia that an attack on your person could occur at any and every moment is something to avoid, basic instinct keeps us from throwing all caution to the wind and placing ourselves in situations that might be more hazardous to our well being than others.

Almost every motivation powered by instinct and intuition is related to safety.  We earn money so that we can afford our homes, which keep us safe from the elements.  We form communities and follow laws in order to keep safe.  These practices date back to our ancient ancestors.  There is nothing more comforting than feeling safe, so it is only natural that we seek safety in as many ways as possible.

There are so many precautions taken to ensure our safety while we travel.  Airplane seats have seat belts as well as other safety precautions.  We spend time in long lines to pass security checkpoints.  We lock our cars and set alarms when we park them in an airport parking lot.

The willingness of some to walk in the dark between their car and terminal, alone, never ceases to amaze the logical sense of precaution that causes one to take other safety measures.  The right airport parking lot will offer safety and security for every step of your journey, from the moment you drive into the lot to the moment you drive away.

Airport parking lots should be well protected.  Protection is a benefit of an off-site airport parking lot as opposed to a garage or un-gated, un-attended lot where anyone might be allowed to enter at any time of the day.  In a gated, monitored or attended airport parking lot, all entrants must have reason to be within that airport parking lot.

To further ensure safety, most off-site airport parking lots offer valet services, often for the same or less cost as lots and garages owned and managed by the airport.  Following that, travelers are escorted from their cars to the terminal on shuttle buses owned and run by the airport parking lot they elect when making travel arrangements.

Upon returning from a trip, those same shuttle buses transport travelers from their arrival terminals to their cars, which are warmed up and ready to go for those travelers who call ahead.  With so many safety measures available, often for less money than parking in an airport parking lot as opposed to off-site, the decision to book airport parking online and ahead of time is not a difficult one.

La Guardia (LGA) Airport Parking

Monday, October 27th, 2008

If you’re traveling through LaGuardia Airport (LGA), you might consider reserving your parking space ahead of time.  What are the benefits to reserving your space ahead of time?  Not only do you get more for your money, but you also can travel with the peace of mind in knowing you won’t miss your flight on account of not finding a parking space in the lots provided by the airport.

First, consider how much it costs to park in one of the airport parking lots offered by LaGuardia Airport.  You have several parking options: the parking garage (airport parking lot 2), long-term reduced rates  (airport parking lot 3), or daily/short-term (airport parking lots 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7).

If you park within the parking garage or any of the daily or short-term airport parking lots, seven days of parking would cost $210.00.  As for amenities, depending on which lot you’re in, you can catch a shuttle ride to the airport.  If you choose to park in the long-term airport parking lot (and there’s only one), you can expect to pay $135.00 for seven days.  When it comes to amenities, you can grab a shuttle ride to the airport.

When it comes to reserving airport parking at one of the “off-site” airport parking lots (they’re only referred to as “off-site” because they’re not owned and managed by the airport, but are usually very close to the airport itself), you have more than one option.  If you’re traveling through LaGuardia Airport, you can park at Avistar LaGuardia or Airpark.

When you park at Avistar LaGuardia, a four-and-a-half star airport parking lot (from over one hundred customer surveys), you receive a multitude of amenities beyond what you can expect from one of LGA’s “on-site” airport parking lots.  These amenities include attended service twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, which means your car remains safe.  Your complementary shuttle ride will transport you safely between your car and your departure or arrival terminal.  You can even get a free coffee or espresso!  All of these amenities accompany your guaranteed reservation, offering you peace of mind, for roughly the same cost as parking in one of the LaGuardia Airport parking lots.

Located one-quarter of a mile from LaGuardia Airport, Airpark offers valet services as well complementary shuttle transportation between the airport parking lot and your departure and arrival terminal(s).  Rated at four and a half stars (from customer surveys), Airpark is sure to provide you a better experience than you’ll find in any of the first-come, first-served LaGuardia Airport parking lots, for just about the same price.
