$700 for a Day of Airport Parking!

The headline on MSNBC was hard to resist for the author of a parking blog. One day of airport parking for $700?  A recent charge for an airline worker’s day of parking in Orlando was $700, instead of the usual $17 per day.  It was an automated parking lot, and 40 other parkers were hit with the same fee from their e-pass/Sun passes.
The airport is ‘working hard to fix the system,’ as they’ve been a bit embarrassed by the steep accidental fees. One way to avoid this kind of problem–paying cash instead of letting the computers tally up the fees.
This is a great week to buy any kind of airline ticket, according to many news sources. Prices on fares all over the US have never been lower. Even long-haul fares have been sliced in half.
Travel expert Tom Parsons attributes the sudden slew of values on simple supply and demand. Airlines have cut way back on capacity, but still want to fly full planes. So they cut the fares to sell the seats.  Parsons says he’s not seen deals like these since way back in 2001.
Now the only problem might be having a job when you get back from your super discounted cruise or vacation.
