Not everything on the TSA’s blog is style over substance (see our last post.)
Back in November, we talked about some of the ways the TSA was considering making security screening more efficient for the lowest-risk travelers. (Read the original post here.)
After a pilot program at several airports in the fall, the PreCheck program will roll out to some of the nation’s busiest hubs in early 2012.
These kinds of changes may be just what the travel industry needs after a very bumpy few years.

There’s no shortage of end-of-year top-ten lists going around, but we think this might be our favorite.
The TSA - which has a much more entertaining blog than one might expect - has published its list of the Top Ten ‘Good Catches’ of 2011.
From adorable wildlife to plastic explosives, after reading this, it’s hard to blame them for making us take off our shoes.

… Doesn’t always stay together.
It’s no news that traveling as a couple can be a big relationship test. If one of you is a planner and the other likes to keep things spontaneous, you may be in for a bumpy vacation.
Here’s a little inspiration. Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott are married, have been traveling together for four years through 65 countries, and blog about their journeys. If there’s anyone qualified to offer advice on keeping the peace while traveling together, it’s them.

We just have one thing to add… Reserve airport parking ahead of time. Otherwise, you may end up more like this couple. Nobody wants that.

2011 was a big year for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
With service added by Quantas, Emirates, Jet Blue, and Spirit Airlines, increased service from recent addition Virgin America, and the start of a 7-year, $1.9 million terminal renovation project, Texas travelers are going to have a lot to clap for in the coming years.
No news about additional parking… Just another reason to book ahead!

Here’s something to get used to - there’s going to be a LOT of talk this year about the Mayan prediction that the world will come to an end on December 21, 2012.
One upside? It’s a terrific excuse to plan a once-in-a-lifetime vacation! The good folks at SmarterTravel.com have come up with a list of 10 places to consider when deciding where you might like to spend your last days on earth.
